vegan brownie recipe

This recipe holds the essence of chocolate indulgence. These sophisticated (but so easy to make) brownies are smooth and creamy — sort of like little bites of chocolate silk that slide along your tongue. Not only did we give you a vegan gluten free brownie recipe, but this one is totally flourless, utilizing nutrient-rich ingredients that offer that sweet decadent flavor you crave in the ultimate brownie.

Ingredients

½ cup raw cashews
½ cup dried medjool pitted dates
½ cup organic cocoa powder
1/3 cup applesauce
1/8 cup organic agave
¼ cup organic full-fat canned coconut milk (don’t be afraid to scoop the cream in!)
¼ cup organic coconut shreds
5 stemmed dried figs (black mission figs if possible)
2 Tbsp. organic unrefined coconut oil
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. sea salt

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine nuts, applesauce cocoa, agave, salt, and baking soda into the food processor and process until ground.

Add in dates, figs, coconut milk with creme, coconut oil, coconut shreds, and blend until smooth with a batter-like consistency. Transfer to a medium bowl and stir in applesauce.

Grease an 8 x 8 pan with coconut oil and spread batter evenly over bottom of pan

Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before cutting (we store them in the refrigerator to harden a bit and to maintain freshness — have no fear brownies will remain smooth and creamy) .
