In Honor of the Olympics, an Inspiring Video on the Power of Never Giving Up

never give up

Many of us know Diana Nyad as one of the greatest long-distance swimmers to ever live. Breaking numerous world records including what had been a 50-year mark for circling Manhattan Island, setting the new time of 7 hrs 57 min; stroking the then-longest swim in history, making the 102.5-mile journey from the island of Bimini (Bahamas) to Florida; and the incredible, never-been-done-before 110-mile ocean crossing between Cuba and Florida at the age of 64.

What many people may not realize is that Nyad is an incredibly motivational speaker. Her will, might and courage flow poetically through words in this inspiring TedTalk. Nyad discusses the astounding mental tactics she used during the harrowing swim across the Gulf to keep pushing forward. She also talks about the importance of having almost irrational perseverance to conquer aspirations, and the power of summoning that last drop of will when it seems as if it is impossible to go on.
