There is No Short-Cutting Your Journey

TODAY’S QUOTE FOR INSPIRATION AND CREATIVITY:

“Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think you’ve lost time. There is no short-cutting to life. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now is right on time.” ~ Asha Tyson

REFLECTION

If I had a dollar for the amount of times I’ve wished to be in a different place in my life I would have a sweet retirement fund by now. We humans have this interesting mechanism in us that creates an insatiable desire to have what we want when we want it. And if we don’t get what we want right away we see ourselves as a failure, or that we are not good enough or that maybe it’s just not in the cards for us ever. We rarely stop to consider that life is a journey and every moment shapes and molds us, essentially strengthening us for whatever battles and bliss we experience in the present moment. I love how Tyson expresses that there is “no short-cutting to life”. Experiencing every moment is part of the powerful process of shedding old layers and regenerating new ones that are encoded with the wisdom we gain by simply living through it.

In my own life, I constantly try to hurry the pace at which my entrepreneurial visions realize. I sometimes fight so hard to move things along – pushing, obsessing and overloading, yet any wise person knows that what you resist, persists. When I finally surrender, the doors open in their own sweet time, always right on time. I have learned through these many experiences to trust that there is a rhythm to life – a perfect serenade – that becomes very clear when you sit still long enough to listen. Pay attention to your life – the patterns, behaviors, the people, the resistance and the synchronicities. You’ll begin to see the messages and the lessons. You’ll even understand why you didn’t get what you wanted at the time you wanted it.

Reoccurring patterns can be the most telling. Addictions, unhealthy desires, low self-worth, surrounding yourself with toxic people – these patterns will show up over and over until you fix them for good. Oftentimes we will sit in the same place in life feeling stagnant. The world is rotating, the seasons are changing but the same problems remain. Dig them up. Talk to them and then release them into the Universe so that you can move on before it’s too late.

We give so much time to so many things that don’t really deserve it, but how often to we reflect on our LIFE. Don’t be afraid to appreciate your journey, no matter how deep the scars or frenzied it may seem. The journey is what reveals what we can handle in the NOW. There still may be some work to do before we get to that place of contentment. Be OK with that and be grateful for the lessons that come with each precious moment.
