To be Fully Alive, Fully Human

Today’s Quote for Inspiration and Creativity:

“To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man’s-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh. To live is to be willing to die over and over again.” ~ Pema Chödrön

REFLECTION

Last year, I made a promise to myself that I would marvel at something at least once a month.

It’s apparent that there is a shift happening in our world that can make it appear and feel ugly. I wanted to ensure that I don’t allow my life to get caught up in the mess, the chaos, the angst and the confusion. Yes, I want to be aware and serve when I can be of help, but I also want to keep a clear and peaceful mind so that I can give all the love I have to offer this world with positive intentions.

The deal was that I was going to make time every month to deeply breathe in the elusive beauty of this planet. To see it in as raw a state as possible and reconnect with the groundedness that is always there if we take the time to root ourselves in the calm energy of nature.

I forgot about that promise days after I made it to myself on a cliff in the Laikipia Plateau of Northern Kenya, but I guess the Universe didn’t. (Without the intention to) Anthony and I have been traveling once a month to some incredible places. Most times the places find us as if we are being led and sometimes pulled to exactly where we are meant to be.

Today, perhaps you can make a promise to yourself to find the beauty in this world. It doesn’t need to be through travel. It can be in the smile of a stranger or a newborn; in the early dawn of a new day; in the scent of a mindfully prepared meal; or in the embrace of a loved one. Marvel at life, be fully alive and awake in every moment and be willing to take the risks necessary to be completely in love with it. It’s the only one you’ve got.

With love & gratitude,
